since the Government has made the decision to not put up the doctors medical benefits to the CPI index, we have had to review our fees. We have provided more doctors and appointments, provided access to more specialists locally and updated our patient record and appointment systems.
Services available at the Coorong Medical Centre include: check-ups health assessments, family planning, pap smears, pregnancy tests, counseling,vaccination for children and travel, minor surgery: assessment of moles and sunspots, cryotherapy for sunspots and warts, skin checks, Aged Healthcare, Diabetes and Asthma reviews plus many other aspects of medicine.
We are continually looking for ways to improve our services to you. If you have any suggestions to help us improve our services you can contact our Practice Manager, Alison by writing, emailing or leaving your suggestion in the suggestion box located in the reception area.
In order to continue the level of care and service that our community has come to expect, the Practice has made a decision to alter it's billing procedures.
Fees for these and other types of consultations are available on request. If you pay your account in full on the day you will receive the discount on the consultation fee.
NEW FEES (as of the 1st August 2018)
Coorong Medical Centre continues to Bulk Bill pensioners, Health Care Card holders and Gold Card holders, for in-hours consultations at the clinic. We have also started bulk billing children under the age of 16.
* ALL FEES MUST BE PAID ON THE DAY. WE USE EASY CLAIM SO WE CAN REBATE YOUR ACCOUNT WITH THE MEDICARE RTEBATE AT THE SAME TIME
* There will still be a gap fee to pay when you present to Casualty

- Extended Consultation $121.30

If a longer appointment is required higher fees apply.
Home visits are available to regular patients only and at the discretion of their treating doctor. The fee charged for home visits is dependent upon time taken.
As a general rule, both examination and treatment is more effective in the clinic setting, with its available facilities, but in cases of infirmity or other situations, home visits are available on request. This is only available to those with a regular GP and at the discretion of the GP.
After Hours Service
Coorong Medical Centre provides After-hours emergency consultations through the Meningie & District Hospital Casualty Department. The discount gap applies to gaps on consults only paid to Coorong Medical Centre within 21 days of service. Gaps for other procedures will be advised at time of invoicing, which will be sent out to you the day after. Payment may be made by Credit Card over the phone or directly into our bank account, details are on the tax invoice. Please forward the Medicare Cheque to Coorong Medical Centre when you receive it.
IT IS INAPPROPRIATE TO ATTEND THE ACCIDENT AND EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT FOR ROUTINE MEDICAL CONSULTATIONS.
AFTER HOURS TIMES
3pm Saturdays, 10 am and 3pm Public Holidays
10am ONLY on a Sunday
These times are for emergencies that cannot wait until Monday morning

24 hours per day for advice
A Doctor will continue to be available 24 hours for EMERGENCY presentations
DRESSINGS & EAR SYRINGING
Premium Dressings - $30.00 fee
Dressings that require high quality dressing products, foams, forceps, glues etc, and take 20 minutes or more nurses time to treat will be charged $30.00 to all patients.
Basic dressings - $10.00 fee
taking less than 20 minutes will be charged at $10.00 to all patients.
EAR SYRINGING - $20.00 fee
Ear syringing fee is $20.00 as there is no appropriate Medicare rebate to cover this procedure.
Fees payable in addition to the cost of the GP consultation and apply to all patients

Best medical care suggests that you make an appointment to discuss your
medication needs before being issued with repeat prescriptions.
Repeat prescriptions issued without a consultation will attract a fee of $12.50 for non concession and $7.50
If you require a repeat referral the Doctors would prefer that you make an appointment to see them and discuss any changes they may need to be included in the referral.
If referrals are issued without an appointment, a fee of $25.00 will be charged and will need to be paid at time of collection

DIFFICULTY IN PAYING YOUR ACCOUNT
Coorong Medical Centre doctors will use their discretion in cases of genuinely financially disadvantaged and chronically ill patients in need of frequent medical attention.
If you are having difficulty paying your account, please discuss this with your doctor or the practice manager.
Fees are adjusted when the Medicare Scheduled fees change on the 1st of July each year.
We expect that account be settled in full on the day. We can process your claim to medicare through our easy claim machine on the day of your appointment to receive your rebate when you pay your account.
An administration fee of $20.00 will be charged to any outstanding
money sent to our collection agency.
